On first listen I thought, kinda ‘stoner-rock’ but I kept listening and got ‘served’, if you will, by this band . Grady defy the stoner rock or southern rock genre. Think ZZ Top (pre-‘Legs’ era), Queens of the Stone Age and John Lee Hooker are three great tastes that taste great together? Grady got something here you should check out. Endorsed by punk rock veteran/tastemaker Jello Biafra, Austin, Texas’ Grady deliver a blues infused take on metal, blooze, and classic rock. On their third album, “Good as Dead” on C12 records, the 3 piece pound out 11 songs about women, booze and hard livin. Fronted by Canadian transplant Gordie ‘Grady’ Johnson formerly of Big Sugar on Guitar, Big Ben on Bass and Nina ‘The Queenha’ Singh killin’ it on drums, Grady play it heavy and fuzzy but keep your ass-shakin’ with ample nods to old school R&B and soul. Best tracks “Annie Lee”, Blackass Woman” and Opening Track “whatchewdid”. Check ‘em out at http://shadygrady.net
“Rolling Thunder”
“Joe Louis & One Night of Sin”
