Once a movie project, the “Thrill Kill Kult” founding members, Groovie Mann and Buzz McCoy, have morphed their twisted B-movie, uber Satanic, industrial disco-glam rock soundtrack into a 20+ year sleaze fest. The two are backed by various friends from nightclubs, known as “The Bomb Gang Girls”, who also do backing vocals and dance on stage, as well as a laundry list of former members.
Lyrics on the bands 13 albums, along with numerous singles and remixes, remind you of a bad 60’s horror movie or something you’d read in a pulp novel. Samples from those movies and often dark spoken word bits are interlaced throughout. Ominous horns, and down-tempo beats mixed with squealing guitars and fuzzy trashy vocals make each one of their releases sound different from the last, but with a distinction that makes them unmistakeable for those who have heard them before. Some of the bands albums can be described as the most evil lounge music on Earth, a raunchy collection of anthems you might find an over the hill, heroin addicted, burlesque dancer gettin down to at some underground S&M club. Their newest CD, “Death Threat“, available on the Thrill Kill Kult’s own Sleazebox Records, is no exception and should be purchased immediately.
