Dan Auerbach (vocals/guitar) and Patrick Carney (drums) of The Black Keys, have become more of a big named band than I think they ever imagined. Originating from Akron Ohio, 2001, the childhood friends and college drop-outs began playing and recording in Patrick’s basement studio, mastering their fuzzy, flowing, blues-rock sound with enough skill to put out seven (soon to be eight) studio releases.
Their electrified, old-school blues rhythms, stemming from a single guitarist/singer and drummer/producer, have put these guys in the headlights of mainstream America with their songs being heard, or seen, on numerous commercials, movie soundtacks, TV shows and video games. The Black Keys have also worked with well known producer, Danger Mouse of Gnarls Barkley, and was planning on a collaboration for their fifth album “Attack and Release” with Ike Turner before his death in 2007. The album went on to debut at #14 on the Billboard Top 200. In 2009 they collaborated and produced an extraordinary album with several R&B and Hip Hop artists such as Mos Def,  RZA, Jim Jones and Q-Tip for the BlakRoc album, which is all live instruments and live vocals. The new full length album and soon to be hit, “Brothers” is set to drop May 18th, 2010.
