From the backstreets of Brooklyn NY, comes Type O Negative’s gloomy evil stepchild, Seventh Void. Formed by Kenny Hickey(vocals, guitar) and Johnny Kelly(drums) of Type O’ in 2005, the band completed their lineup with Hank Hell (Inhuman)on bass, and Matt Brown (Uranium 235, Supermassiv) on guitar.
With a powerful doom-laden, down tuned, old school metal sound to it, the tracks are somewhat reminiscent of Black Sabbath. Some songs a little more upbeat, some down, mixed with Kenny’s vocals and the incredible production value, makes the whole thing very listenable. With a lot of garbage coming out nowadays, where every song is indistinguishable from the last, it was a refreshing change of pace to have actually bought something worth listening to more than once and not want my money back. The brand new release and debut album “Heaven Is Gone” is out now on Vinnie Paul’s record label Big Vin Records.
